Lee on Saturday January 23rd, 2010 from 12 noon to 3 PM. There was lots of information available concerning the rebuilding efforts and opportunities within the Gentilly area. PCS is sponsored a booth to offer our services as well as to help out with the festival's expenses. There was a great turn out!! 2010 PONTCHARTRAIN HOME SHOW: The 2010 Pontchartrain Home Show was held February 26th through the 28th at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. This show was kind of slow this year, but we still received about 10 written contact request forms and handed out hundreds of brochures. 2010 NEW ORLEANS HOME & GARDEN SHOW: Every year PCS hosts a large booth at the New Orleans Home & Garden Show held in the Superdome, this year is no different. In spite of the economic downfall, thanks to PCS referrals and repeat clients, we have kept busy and survived. This years show was held on March 11th through the 14th. This years show was a great success!! It seems homeowners are starting to re-build and remodel again. We had many requests for storm restorations that are still blighted, home additions, interior renovations, and outdoor patio/arbors/cabanas. We look forward to continuing to play a part in the rebuilding of the New Orleans areas. CURRENT PROJECT UPDATE: Our current projects include bathrooms, kitchens, whole-house restorations, exterior restorations, and additions. We have numerous projects pending and Summer is finally here, so we've been getting prepared for this years workload. Please go to our "Current Projects" page to read more about our current projects. 2010 brings a lot of hope and continuous rebuilding efforts to our area. A new Mayor for New Orleans, a new President for Jefferson Parish, a "Who Dat" football team, and lots of anxious residents ready for change. BUILDING CODE UPDATE: "FEMA" keeps updating and changing the codes so fast it's hard to keep up. The "IBC" (International Building Code) is now what every structure and renovation has to abide by. A word or warning for the "DIY" (Do It Yourselfer). The "Home Depot" commercials are quick to say "You can do it, we can help", but they don't tell you that it's the law to get your work inspected and it MUST meet the "IBC". The "IBC" code book is about the size of the New Orleans phone book and has codes that are added and/or revised almost on a monthly basis. Even the Architects, Engineers, and Plan reviewers have a hard time keeping up. PCS makes it our business to know the codes by our continual affiliation and membership with the "Building and Trades Association", the "New Orleans Home Builders Association", the "New Orleans Better Business Bureau", and the "Jefferson Chamber of Commerce". Taking on small jobs like painting is definitely do-able, but if you have a renovation or structure to build, call on PCS to make sure it's done right. PCS NOW OFFERS FINANCING Many of our customers are experiencing great difficulty in getting their Road Home money. PCS, Inc. is offering financing that can help get your project underway while "the check is in the mail". Applying is very simple and funding is sometimes available within days! Allowing your storm-damaged property to sit to long can greatly increase the repair costs. So call our office today for more details and get on the road to recovery sooner. LAKEVIEW --- SAY "NO" TO MODULAR Good news!! Lakeview is coming back stronger and better than expected. Many of our clients in the Lakeview area are giving us great news that most of their neighbors have decided to return and restore their properties. Lakeview has always been a landmark of exceptional New Orleans architecture with thousands of historical homes. We are encouraging all homeowners who have less than 50% damage to restore their home vs. tearing it down. There are Modular look-a-likes trying to push their way into this landmark of a community. My opinion? -- To move out of one trailer into a larger one that resembles the real McCoy is almost blasphemy to the historical blood-line of the architecture that makes Lakeview what it is. It costs just about the same to restore most of the older homes as it does to tear them down and have a five or six-wide mobile home placed on your lot that will never be able to compare to what was destroyed. Don't turn Lakeview into a large MOBILE HOME PARK!!! Compare and debate by allowing us to price-out your historical restoration first, then get a quote on a large mobile home look-a-like, you'll be surprised that we can usually restore for less than one of these quadruple-wide's cost and you will have an investment, not a depreciating trailer!! Oh, if you decide to go with a mobile home, make sure you ask the supplier if you can keep the axles and tires off the trailers, their good for making home-made utility or boat trailers!
Kindest Regards, Harold Moreland (PCS president/owner)
